Divide by 6

I've come to realize that everything here in China is really inexpensive compared to stuff in the US, especially food. Breakfast usually costs less than a buck, lunch and dinner each cost maybe a few bucks. So whenever I see that something may be expensive, I divide the price by six and realize that it is still rather cheap.

2 Liter 冰红茶 (cold red tea, my go-to drink) - 6 yuan



菠萝面包 (pineapple bun) - 1.5 yuan
小吃店的红烧牛肉面 (spicy beef noodle soup at a small restaurant) - 7 yuan
10 饺子 (dumplings) - 10 yuan


More food and studying...

Classes have been going well (albeit tough); I definitely believe that my speaking ability has improved since I have gotten here mostly due to the language pledge. In the past week, we have debated traffic laws, environmental issues, and whether suing people has become too easy; compared to the beginning of freshman year when talking about the weather was difficult, PiB's material is much more difficult while still being substantial and modern.

7:30-8:20 大班课 Big Class (8 people)
8:20-8:30 Break

9:20-9:40 Break
9:40-10:30 小班课 Small Class (4 people)
10:30-10:40 Break
10:40-11:30 小班课 Small Class (4 people)

In the afternoon, there is 个别谈话 which is 50 minutes of conversing with a teacher. Several teachers that I have talked to enjoy getting insider information about how to get into Yale. Outside of attending class and talking with teachers, most of my time is spent studying for the 听写 (small quiz) at the beginning of each class. This weekend, PiB is taking us to 长城 (the Great Wall), so I'm pretty excited.
